The Canadian Health Network (CHN) is an Internet based service built collaboratively between various major health organizations across Canada and Health Canada. Its key purpose is to provide to Canadians an electronic gateway to credible, practical, timely and relevant health information. Built on diverse expertise of non-governmental health organizations in the public sector and the federal government, the key focus of CHN is on providing Internet based information on health promotion and disease prevention to Canadians.
BAU was responsible for the development and implementation of a Web-site Content Management System (WCMS), System Integration Services, Web hosting services, Maintenance and support services and the development and implementation of enhancements to the WCMS.
Using, Divine's Open Market WCMS on top of IBM Websphere 4.0.2 and a DB2 database BAU designed and developed a system, which allows users to enter content via a web-interface. Also reviewed the process of this content through a custom designed workflow and published the finished product at a specified date and time.
By defining the workflow process, BAU in conjunction with CHN constituents utilizes the WCMS as a workflow tool, which helps to define version control, document ownership, meta-data, archiving and the overall management of articles contained within the site. BAU helped to identify the overall structure of content and designed templates that display article assets.
The system included IBM Websphere Application Server v4.0.2, Divine Content Management Server v4.0.3. and was ported over to FATWIRE Content Management Server v5, (including CS Direct v5, CS Direct Advantage v5), and internationalized. The system utilizes JAVA J2EE, JSP, JavaScript, XML and DB2 7.2 and DB2 Text Extender.
