Scribe Translation Workbench Integration with ONYX (CRM)
Cognos is the leading provider of enterprise business intelligence solutions that optimize the performance of the world's largest and most successful organizations. Creators of Improptu and Powerplay, the Cognos Business intelligence suite gathers, stores, analyzes, and reports data to help enterprise users make better strategic business decisions.
Currently, Cognos uses a number of applications to manage all sales and product transaction information. As in many Enterprise Information Portal integrations, while connecting front office and back office systems, data redundancy becomes a major issue. Cognos has invested in the ONYX Customer Center (CRM) to centralize all marketing, sales and customer information including the data input from a web-based survey and event sign up system. It is a requirement that information entered via the web system and sales system also resides in the ONYX Customer Center database simultaneously. Since the existing systems work with their own Oracle Databases and ONYX uses Microsoft SQL Server, Scribe Translation Workbench is utilized to automate the process of transforming data from the source databases into the ONYX database.
BAU Solutions Canada assisted Cognos to realize the numerous outstanding enhancement requests and problem fixes with the Scribe Translation Workbench. We were tasked to create and modify DTS specifications using Scribe’s built in functions including the installation and configuration of the Scribe Workbench, development of Data Transformation Services (DTS) processes and the creation of new data specifications for the ONYX (CRM) Portal Database.
