Secure Web-Mail Project
The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) was founded in 1995 with a mission to facilitate the activities of provincial pharmacy regulatory authorities throughout Canada in their service of public interest.
BAU Solutions was asked to design, develop and deploy a secure web-enabled email system for NAPRA to effectively and efficiently distribute information to its 10,000 members nation-wide. NAPRA required that the user information stored in the system be harmonized in one database from several non-web-enabled sub-systems. In order to simplify this process, BAU enhanced an existing data import utility, designed to take ASCII files from independent regulatory databases, and merge them into 1 centralized national database. From this database user data is automatically processed and the secure e-mail system updated with new users. Users are instantly added to appropriate mailing lists and may send and receive mail in a secure web-enabled environment. It is the integration of proven 3rd party utilities and effective connectivity of existing infrastructure systems that have made this a significant time and money saving solution for NAPRA
BAU selected Microsoft Technologies for the system, as they were uniquely suited to NAPRA’s requirements. They offered a simple and cost-effective scalable platform with ease of deployment and maintenance. This system is built using SQL Server2000, ASP’s, and VBScript and is secured by SSL and Authentix technologies. BAU selected the Smartmax Software Inc.’s Mail Max System as the engine for the solution and utilized MS SQL Server2000 DTS utilities to map the data between the backend systems. |
